Water is an ingredient with a measured role, including in preliminary stages.

Can I reuse the preliminary liquid?

Follow the recipe’s stage instructions. If the first liquid is discarded, its water does not carry over into the final marinade. The recipe links below keep preliminary and final quantities separate.

Does clear water guarantee a safe marinade?

Use potable water. Mineral content can affect the appearance of pickling liquid, but clarity does not establish safety. Extra water dilutes a formula: do not alter tested preservation proportions.
